season's greetings

Hi everyone,

Well it's a gloomy day now that the snow has arrived, much too early I might add but a good time to get into my craft room and create. I'm still recovering from my major back injury but getting better every day:)

I have a card today to share for the SSS Flickrchallenge#58 which is 'to take some time to colour' to help in supporting Kathy Racoosin's 30 day colour challenge.

First I used the tree die to create a stencil so that I could ink the trees. Then I blended the bottom part of the card with some Distress Ink. Stamped the car, tree and gifts and coloured them with Copics. I used a SSS stencil for the snowy background with some glitter snow paste. Too bad the photo didn't pick it up very well but there is a nice sparkle to the snow. I used a wonky stitched border die for the outside of the card and added some twine. Popped up all the little accents with some foam squares and added the sentiment.

Well that's it.

Thanks for stopping by,

Supplies used:

Lawn Fawn Home For The Holidays stamp set

Craft room

Hi everyone,

I'm still recuperating from my back injury and haven't created much lately but have spent some time redesigning my craft space on paper. Hubby and I made a trip to Ikea and purchased 2 - 9 drawer Alex cabinets, a Roskog cart, some Bygel hanging pots and a few Skurar holders. I really thought my husband was going to hurt his back just getting the cabinets into the house. I was actually planning to move my craft space to another part of the house so had my hubby set them up there and it didn't quite work out the way I planned it so I just decided to purge some stuff from my present space and make it more work friendly (I think I have way too much stuff 😄I have a bunch of white plastic drawer cabinets on wheels which I will replace with the Ikea cabinets that look much cleaner and nicer.
I can't really bend down so everything is a bit of an effort. I went through some of the drawers and shelves and weeded through what I wanted to keep or not.

I have another 10 days in my brace and then I can start to get back to normal activity. You have no idea how much stuff you drop during a day and don't even think twice about picking it up. I do😬😬Hubby has been a real sport about that!

Anyways thanks for listening and hope to be back really soon.

Happy crafting!

Fall birthday colours

Hi everyone,

Well it's been a few weeks since I last posted but a lot has happened. A couple of weeks ago I had a terrible fall in which I actually ended up with a compression fracture of my L1 vertabrae - which essentially means that I have broken my back. I have to wear a back brace for another month and then I can slowly ease back into exercising. I can tell you I have spent a lot of time just resting because that's the best medicine for me right now. Oh how I miss creating in my craft room and my exercising. The simplest of tasks have been a  little awkward with the brace but I've been doing ok with it. Everyday gets better.
I am finally feeling good enough to create so I have a card to share for the current SSS flickrchallenge #54 where the theme is 'Capture the colors of Fall'.

Here's my card:

I used Distress inks to blend on the diecut and for the background to the shaker. I also die cut the Birthday die again from some patterned paper and cut out only the words Birthday Wishtes and adhered that over the original die cut with some Tombow mono glue. I then stamped and die cut a leaf from Altenew and added that and some gold glitter tape for some accent. Used a stitched rectangle die to emboss the card base and that's my card.

Thanks for stopping by,

SSS Stitched Rectangle die set
Altenew Peony Bouquet stamp set

My Iceland vacation,

Hi everyone,

I have been on vacation in Iceland the past 2 weeks and thought I would share some of my photos. I was absolutely in awe of its' beauty and ruggedness. An amazing country with beautiful people. The scenery went from flat, to hilly, snow capped mountains, glaciers, fjords, waterfalls, icebergs, geysers, craters, volcanos, hot springs, moss covered fields, black sand beaches, tons of sheep and beautiful Icelandic horses (more like ponies) everywhere. It is paradise for hikers, backpackers, bikers and photographers. Beauty abounds! I just can't say enough about this beautiful scenic country.
I'll be back to posting some cards very soon but for now I hope you enjoy my photos. I actually took close to 500 photos by these are just a few.

get well

Hi everyone,

Hope you are all enjoying a beautiful summer so far. I love it!!!
Today's card is for the current SSS Flickr challenge to "Emboss it".

Here's my card:

I started by creating a stencil with some heavy white cardstock using the leaves die. I took a piece of white cardstock and cut that out using a scalloped frame die. I applied the grit paste over the stencil and when dry I added my colours to the leaves. I just love the texture of this paste.
Stamped the sentiment and added some tiny black dots with enamel accents.

I covered the card base with a piece of patterned paper and then popped up the entire panel with some foam tape. And that's my card for today.

Thanks for stopping by,

let's party!

Hi everyone,

Hope you are enjoying your weekend. Today's card is for the current Rainbow Challenge on the Lawnscaping blog found here.

Here's my card:

I started by stamping the bear once and making a mask. I then stamped the first bear, masked him off and proceeded to stamp the others, masking and colouring each one as I went along. I then stamped 5
balloons die cut each one and coloured them in red, orange, yellow, green and blue. Once coloured I
used a die to cut a little smiley face in each balloon. I then worked on creating the background with some ink blending, cut around the bears to make a panel and adhered that to the background. Added some grassy accent to the front and a little strip of gold glitter tape. Stamped my sentiment and added glossy accents to each of the balloons.

Well that's my card and thanks for stopping by,

When all else fails, smile

Hi everyone,

I recently purchased the Altenew Halftone Smile stamp set that I am using on my card.

My local stamp store didn't have the corresponding die and I didn't really want to fussy cut it out so I decided to stamp it on some watercolour cardstock and heat emboss it using white embossing powder.
I added some watercolours using my Zig colours. Once I had that complete I went around the word and added a little light blue Copic colour to for a little shading.
I die cut the watercoloured panel using a square stitched die. I dry embossed the whole front of the card and added some splatters of black paint, laid down a square panel with some Doodlebug pattered paper to the back of my square panel and off-centered the front panel with some foam tape. Stamped the sentiment in Versamark ink and heat embossed in white.
Added some small black decorative stars and that's it for this card.

Thanks for stopping,

Die cut Happy

Hi everyone,

Today I have a card that I created using some Altenew products.

I started by stamping the flower with Versamark ink and embossing with white embossing powder. I then masked off the first flower and proceeded to do the same for the second and third flower. I then coloured each flower differently using my Copics. I placed the die over the centre of the flowers and diecut through the panel. I used a stitched die to cut out the entire panel.
Once I was finished mounting the panel to the card base I die cut the happy twice more with heavy white cardstock and adhered the three pieces together with some spray adhesive. So that the die cut sentiment wouldn't look lost against the flower background I ran a black Tombow marker around the outside of the letters. Used my Misti to stamp the sentiment where I wanted it and then adhered the die sentiment in place and added a few sequins to the panel.
And that's it for this card.

Welcome little one

Hi everyone,

Another gorgeous day here and nice and hot!

Today I have a card that I created for the current 'Stencil It' challenge on the SSS Flickr challenge #48 here.

I used a stencil called Mini Circle Explosion to create the background with a pink ink. I started with a heavier pressure at the top left of my card and then eased off a bit to create a lighter effect at the bottom.

Stamped all the little pieces to go on the front of the card and coloured them using Copics. Added the sentiments and some glossy accents to the balloon. Finished the whole card off with some washi tape and silver hearts.

Hello hello hello little one

Hi everyone,

Hope you are all enjoying your summer so far. It's been nice and hot here! I've been enjoying some time off work with a little side trip to NH and it's been quite nice. Looking sooooo forward to my retirement very soon!!!

Today's card that I am sharing  is for the current Wednesday challenge of Anything Goes at  Simon Says Stamp found here.

I am using my recently purchased Cuddly Critters stamp set and the accessory stamps and dies that go along with this set.

I started by creating my background first by blending 3 different ink colours. Once I had the right look I die cut the panel using a new die from MFT, then I added some water splatters.

Then I went on to creating my card by stamping all the elements needed and colouring them with Copics.
I positioned them on my card, adhered them down with foam tape and added some SSS sequins for the finishing touch.

Birthday Wishes #2

Hi everyone,

I'm posting a card that I am entering in the SSS Flickr challenge #46 here.

I seem to have gotten very busy lately and have not found much time for spending in my craft room. I'm getting set to retire soon and am spending my work days training and working. I find it takes a lot of effort and time and I seem to be zapped by day's end.
Well it will all be coming to an end soon and then I can concentrate on my daughter's upcoming wedding in August. Retiring, a wedding and a trip to Iceland all in the month of August. Fun times!!!

Well here's the fun shaker card I've made for this challenge. It reminds me of summertime and eating ice cream or sherbet. I did a little ink blending and some water.

Thanks for stopping by.

Birthday wishes

Hi everyone,

This week I received the new Birthday Wishes frame die from Simon Says Stamp which I couldn't wait to put to good use.
One of the owners of the local coffee shop where we go for lunch every Saturday was celebrating a birthday today.
This card was perfect for the occasion.

I used distress inks to blend the background and ran the whole thing through my die cutting machine to add the embossed frame around the card. Next I die cut the frame and added some colour. Die cut the sentiment frame again in black and snipped off the frame and added just the sentiment part behind the original sentiment. Added some twine and 2 pearls for the "i's".
Before assembling the whole thing I added some ink splatters.

Thanks for stopping by,

LF Easter goodie bags

Hi everyone and Happy Easter,

Well Easter is upon us so I couldn't resist making my goodie bags again using the Lawn Fawn die.
I just love applying different paper designs to the front of each little bag and stuffing them with lots of chocolates eggs and such and sealing them with decorative ribbon. Even though I don't eat chocolate (instant migraine) I still love making these and giving them away to family and friends.
Oh well, there are jelly beans and jujubes that I can munch on!!!

Here are a few of the bags that I created.

Plaid Easter bunnies

Hi everyone,

Well it's been a while but I do have a couple of cards that I created for my 2 little nieces for Easter.
Both cards were very quick and easy to create using Lawn Fawn stamps and paper and some new My Favorite Things die-namics dies.
I just love the new paper pack from Lawn Fawn. The colours are perfect for Easter and Springtime!

I created the background by dry embossing the frame. Then I die cut the background panel with the patterned paper. I adhered the patterned paper panel to each card and used 2 different style frames to highlight the bunnies. The bunnies were heat embossed using white embossing powder and stamped on dark brown cardstock. I added a little glitter to each one and covered the entire bunny with clear Wink of Stella for a little extra shimmer.

Hope you like them and thanks for stopping by.
