Happy Father's Day

Hi everyone,

I want to wish a happy Father's Day to all the great Dads out there celebrating their special day.
This card was created for my hubby (even though he is a woodworker) and also I decided to enter it in the current Nautical theme challenge at http://thecardconcept.blogspot.ca

I used some patterned paper for the background to which I distressed the edges with Antique Linen distress ink.
The compass is actually from the World Travel stamp set by Rubber Stampede which I think I purchased ages and ages ago I believe when I first started stamping. I embossed it in gold for some added texture - sort of like a seal!
Added the sentiment from BoBunny stamps, three little metallic accents from Hero Arts and some twine (rope).

Thanks for stopping by,

Judy

Shine bright again

Hi everyone,

Finally it's the weekend and the end to what seemed to be a very long week. Ugh!
I thought I would share a card that I created for the current Wednesday challenge at http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/wednesdaychallenge/ where the challenge is to use a stencil.
As they are showcasing products from The Crafter's Workshop stencils that is exactly what I chose.
I started out by masking off each section of the stencil one by one and adding various ink colours.
When I was finished I thought that it looked a little plain so I decided to lay down a strip of stitching between the sections using a die from Die-namics from MFT.
I then offset the whole card with a couple of strips of black cardstock for a little pop of colour and some black rhinestones.

Thanks for stopping by to have a look and enjoy your weekend.

Supplies used:
The Crafter's Workshop Mini Palms stencil
My Favorite Things Die-namics Blueprint 13
Hero Arts neon ink cubes
Tsukineko Sunflower Yellow Brilliance ink
Pink Paislee sentiment from the Hello Sunshine stamp/die set

Shine Bright

Hi everyone,

I made this card this morning for the current challenge at http://casology.blogspot.ca where the theme is 'Shine'.
I used a stencil which I masked into a circle and applied gold embossing powder. After the powder was heat set I then applied ink to the open spaces. I decided that there wasn't much of a definition to the circle so I punched it with a scallop punch to give it a nice edge detail.
Popped up the whole card, added the sentiment and some crystal rhinestone embellishments.

Thanks for stopping by,

Judy

Supplies used: Memory Box Florina stencil
Antique Linen Distress ink
Gold Detail embossing powder

Happy Birthday

Hi everyone, I've made this card for the current challenge over at musecardclub.blogspot.ca/2014/05/muse-challenge-69.html showcasing Cornelia's card. When I first saw her card my first idea was to use watercolours seeing as I think it is stuck in my head from the recent Online Card Classes for Watercolors. So instead I decided to resurrect my alcohol inks and glossy cardstock. Something I haven't used in a while. I can honestly say that I was out of practice with the alcohol inks and almost forgot how to apply them:) as it took a few takes. Like a movie!!! I jumped right in and swiped the 3 colours on the card and added some splatters of the same in 2 colours. I die cut the sentiment and bent it a little to give it a somewhat curved shape. Mounted the whole thing on foam tape against a black card base. I guess you could say I am happy with the result. Supplies used: Alcohol inks in Lettuce, Sail Boat Blue and Purple Twilight. Cottage Cutz Happy Birthday dies Glossy paper from Inkssentials. Enjoy and thanks for stopping by, Judy

Little birdie!

Little birdie

Hello everyone, I made this card for the current challenge on Virginia Lu's blog which is to use stencils
For my card I used a stencil from The Crafter's workshop.
I decided to try Jennifer McGuire's idea of tinting my embossing paste. I used white an added a light orange ink until I had the desired colour.
Before the paste was dry I added some glitter and set it aside to dry. Once dry I heat embossed to bring out the sparkle.
The bird is from QuickKutz which I used a Memory Box stencil to add a little pattern to the bird.
Added some vellum, sentiment and embellishments.

Thanks for stopping by to have a look.

Supplies used: TCW222s mini Tri Mosaic stencil
QuicKutz bird DS0442
Memory Box Rhapsody stencil
Hero Arts sentiment CL 574
